Custom Home Specialists
Alpine's Custom Homes. Ready for Their Next Chapter.
Most Alpine homes were built between 1970 and the early 2000s on large custom lots. Heritage Hills, Lambert Park Estates, Three Falls. These are not production builds. They were designed for specific families, built to a custom spec. After 25 or 30 years, the original 2-1/4" strip oak and builder carpet have had a long run. The bones are exceptional. The finishes are ready for an upgrade.
Alpine sits between 4,800 and 5,400 feet. Indoor humidity regularly drops into the teens in January. That matters for hardwood flooring. At this elevation, solid hardwood installed without proper acclimation and humidity management will gap seasonally. The National Wood Flooring Association recommends engineered hardwood for installations above 4,000 feet. We build this conversation into every Alpine estimate, because we'd rather say it upfront than have you call us about gaps in the spring.

Alpine sits between 4,800 and 5,400 feet. Indoor humidity drops below 20% in winter, which causes solid hardwood to shrink and gap seasonally. The NWFA recommends engineered hardwood for installations above 4,000 feet. Solid hardwood can work with careful humidity management and a longer acclimation period. We will tell you exactly what is required. For most Alpine renovations, wide-plank engineered white oak is the technically sound and aesthetically popular choice.
Most 1990s-era strip oak in Alpine homes can be refinished if they haven't been sanded to the tongue. We assess thickness on-site before recommending refinishing or replacement. Refinishing runs $4–$8 per square foot and adds another 20+ years of life. Replacement to wide-plank engineered white oak runs $8–$14 per square foot installed.
Wide-plank engineered white oak (7"–9") in a matte finish has become the dominant renovation choice in Heritage Hills and the East Bench homes. It handles Alpine's humidity swings, pairs well with mountain-modern interiors, and photographs well. We bring samples to your home so you can see the options in your light.
Engineered hardwood runs $8–$14 per square foot installed depending on species and subfloor condition. Solid hardwood runs $7–$12 per square foot. Refinishing runs $4–$8 per square foot. LVP runs $4.50–$8.50 per square foot. All estimates are free, written, and itemized.
